You gotta go when you gotta go

So I went to the St. Louis Zoo with my family (an awesome zoo). We had a great time. We saw the first sea lion show of the year (pictures coming soon), and it wasn’t very crowded. We got through the monkey and reptile houses and watched the sea lions all before lunch.

At lunch, we were sitting by some of the gazelles, and near the end of our meal, one of the gazelles decided it had to go. It wasn’t real easy to see, but the tail was definitely lifted. And that was only the beginning.

The bears came next. The black bears, spectacled bears, and polar bears were polite, but the grizzlies. Well, at first it was just one, but the other decided it had to go, too, and… Well, grizzlies — they can hold a lot of fluid.

So we get to the penguins. I love penguins. (No, I haven’t even seen March of the Penguins. I’ve always loved penguins.) The penguins are cute. One is even sitting on an egg. I look down at a penguin that was swimming, and I think, “Oh, that would be a cool picture.” And as I turn on my camera, a white cloud shoots out behind him and spreads out through the water. No, I did not take a picture.

So we move through the penguin cave, away from the South Pole, and on to Africa. The lions, giraffes, and cheetahs were restrained. And the elephant was cool. He was eating, drinking water, and eating some more. But — he had a little too much to drink, and… Yeah.

So, a trip to the zoo means architecture, some cold hogs, and FISH are the best I can give you. The monkeys were lively but are hard to shoot from behind the glass. The day was really fun. (I’ll admit it: I burst out laughing at each of the incidents.) But burr! My aunt and I wanted hot chocolate for lunch, not pop with ice. Then later, when the sun was starting to shine through the clouds a bit and we were warmed up by the walk, we saw a sign for hot chocolate. (Go figure!)

  1. I guess I was too busy looking at the birds and the zoo animals to note any signs for hot chocolate. Not that I wanted any of it.

You’re a great photographer. Keep it up!

  2. Greetings from New England. We’ve enjoyed looking at your pictures, and we will visit again soon.
